EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is the TV guide inside your IPTV app. Your provider supplies the schedule data; the app matches it to each channel and shows now, next and later. With an Xtream Codes login it loads automatically.
How the IPTV guide works
Guide data is published as an XMLTV file: a big list of programmes with channel IDs, start and end times, titles and descriptions. Each channel in your list carries an ID (tvg-id) that points to its entry. When the IDs match, the app shows the schedule.
Getting the guide in your app
| App | How the guide loads |
|---|---|
| TiviMate | Automatic with Xtream; Settings > EPG to update |
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Automatic with Xtream; Settings > EPG |
| IPTVX | Automatic with Xtream |
| M3U-based apps | Add the EPG (XMLTV) URL we send |
| MAG / Formuler | Built into the portal |
Guide empty or wrong? Fix it
Update the guide manually
TiviMate: Settings > EPG > Update EPG. Smarters: Settings > EPG (or Install EPG). Wait a minute — guides are large files.
Check the time zone
If the guide shows but times are off, set the device’s time zone correctly, then use the app’s EPG time shift if needed.
Check the EPG source
With an Xtream login the guide comes automatically. With an M3U link, add the EPG (XMLTV) address we send you in the app’s EPG settings.
Clear the cache and reload
A corrupt guide file shows nothing. Clear the app cache, then update the EPG again.
Catch-up: the guide in reverse
On channels that support catch-up, you can scroll back in the guide and play programmes from the past days — perfect for games and news that air while you are at work or asleep. Look for a clock or rewind icon next to the channel.
EPG questions
What does EPG mean on IPTV?
Electronic Program Guide: the TV guide that shows what is on each channel now, next and later, inside your IPTV app.
Why do some channels have no guide?
Not every channel publishes guide data, and some small or event channels have none. About 80% of TrendyScreen channels have a full guide.
What is an EPG URL?
An address for an XMLTV file — the standard format for TV guide data. Apps that use M3U playlists often ask for it separately.
Can I see past programmes in the guide?
On channels with catch-up, yes: scroll back in the guide and play a programme that already aired.
